The Ceylon Cricket Academy is not just about developing the range of technical cricketing skills – batting, bowling, keeping and fielding. Sessions and camps prepare young players in a range of pre-season activities, incorporating general fitness and healthy lifestyle.
The ethos encourages a focus on achievement with plenty of opportunities to put honed skills into action through small-sided games and middle practices.
Sessions are developed both indoors and outdoors, allowing players to practise on a range of surfaces and learn how to manage external conditions which may influence their game.
Combining specific coaching drills and fun games, the Ceylon Cricket Academy ensures each participant, regardless of age and ability, develops their individual cricketing skills.
Using the latest computer technology and video analysis, all players receive personal guidance and coaching advice to develop the individual aspects of their game.
A key aim of the academy is to nurture players to develop their own knowledge and confidence.
New skills and tips players learn through the Academy programme, can then be practiced and included through practice at home, school or club.
Teamwork and Leadership
Feeling part of a team is an invaluable experience for young players – whether at a club, school or through participating in a specific coaching programme such as Ceylon cricket Academy.
Cooperation, socialization, confidence and accountability are encouraged through all aspects of the Academy. No sports team is successful without working together to reach a common goal. Teamwork is essential to a good performance from any sports team, professional or not, and is a great way to teach children certain life lessons, such as cooperating well with others and taking responsibility for actions.
Leadership skills are a combination of many characteristics and factors that enable children to streamline and correct their mind set and outlook, characteristics that enable your children to benefit immensely in whatever they do, wherever they go and however they live.
Involvement and Participation
Boys and girls ages 6 – 15 years and of mixed ability, are all warmly welcomed to be part of the Ceylon Cricket Academy, either through the Academy programme or the Holiday Courses run throughout the year.
Players travel from many locations across West and South Yorkshire to take part in the Academy, bringing with them a wide background of playing experiences. With such a network of clubs operating at a Junior level across the catchment, players quite often forge new friendships with players they have previously bowled against or faced in the crease.
The coaching team ensure each individual player is fully involved and takes an active role in the Academy.
One of the most important things children gain from sport is enjoyment. In addition, a team sport such as cricket, additionally plays a huge role in the personal development of children and provides valuable lessons and life skills.
